I.
After days of walking
through a dark unheated jungle,
as silent as a sepulchre,
we come to temple ruins,
gaze at their heights and
climb to the top
out of foggy gloom.
My companion takes a sip of wine
from a goblet,
her teeth gleaming in the sunlight
and reflecting in the cup.
We climb down and
enter the ruins
through a small passageway
as the earth tremors,
and we walk beside a warm pool
lit with lights.
